"Pros and Cons of Industrial Robots in Additive Manufacturing". Solid Freeform Fabrication 2024: Proceedings of the 35th Annual International Solid Freeform Fabrication Symposium, 2024. DOI: 10.26153/tsw/58287 - Abstract: Advances in non-planar, multi-axis, and hybrid material extrusion additive manufacturing techniques increasingly demand active nozzle orientation control. Industrial articulated robot arms are commonly implemented for repetitive manufacturing tasks and these arms are becoming a common choice of motion platform for additive manufacturing given their ubiquity and flexibility. Here we explore the pragmatic benefits and challenges of using industrial robotic arms for extrusion additive manufacturing. While robotic arms from established manufacturers are highly capable, recent offerings are more easily integrated and safer, while providing the same or improved capabilities as the more traditional models. ## Awards and honors - Hexclave track winner, c0mpiled 13 Hackathon, 2026 — Track winner, $1,000, SwiperNoSwiping - Hexclave track winner, c0mpiled 11 Hackathon, 2026 — Track winner, $1,000, CITED - Dean's List, Penn State College of Engineering, 2026 — Every semester - Nittany AI Challenge, Nittany AI Alliance, Penn State, 2026 — 4th place, $2,000, Team Surge - Inc.U Competition, Invent Penn State, 2026 — Tied 4th, $1,000, Surge - Most Venture-Backable, c0mpiled 6 Hackathon, 2026 — Category winner, $800, Web Design Agency - Nittany AI Challenge, MVP phase, Nittany AI Alliance, Penn State, 2026 — Advanced to next phase, $300, Surge Events - Awesome Grant, 3 Dots Downtown / The Awesome Foundation, 2025 — Recipient, $1,000, SnackScout - SOLIDWORKS Design Professional, Dassault Systèmes, 2025 — Certified - Business Showcase winner, ENGR 310, Penn State, 2024 — Winner, $500 - Outstanding Technical Award, Perkasie Lions Club, 2023 — Recipient, $200 - Physics Student of the Year, Pennridge High School, 2023 — Recipient, $500 - Super Senior, Pennridge High School, 2023 — Recipient, $500 - Student of the Month, Rotary Club, 2023 — Recipient, $500 - Eagle Mentor Pin, Boy Scouts of America, 2023 — Recipient - SAT, College Board, 2022 — 1540 - ACT, ACT, Inc., 2022 — 34 - National Outdoor Awards, Boy Scouts of America, 2022 — Recipient - CPR/AED, American Red Cross, 2022 — Certified - Eagle Scout, Boy Scouts of America, 2022 — Rank earned - Lifeguarding, American Red Cross, 2022 — Certified - Wilderness First Aid, American Red Cross, 2022 — Certified ## Elsewhere - GitHub: https://github.com/lancestreuber - LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lance-streuber ## Pages - https://lancestreuber.com/ - https://lancestreuber.com/projects - https://lancestreuber.com/experience - https://lancestreuber.com/awards - https://lancestreuber.com/publications - https://lancestreuber.com/about - https://lancestreuber.com/contact
